The 5000 meters or 5000-meter run (approximately 3.1 mi or 16,404 ft) is a common long-distance running event in track and field. It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over 12.5 laps of a standard track. The same distance in road running is called a 5K run. The 5000 m has been present on the Olympic program since 1912 for men and since 1996 for women.

Why run a 5k on the track at the Runners Roost PR Series?

1. It's the flattest course you will ever run on.

2. Running in the evening yields perfect conditions.

3. The continuous music and carnival atmosphere brings energy to the race.

4. Seeded heats give you the best chance of being pushed to a 5K personal record!

5. Improve your running resume by posting a track 5k finishing time

6. If you have never run a 5000m track race, gain a new experience.

7. If you are coming off a high school track season, take a swing at a 5000m race while you are at your peak.

8.  Racers get a really cool New Balance race shirt!
